Services Offered at The Menopause Center
Doctor Melinda Hall and her staff strongly believe that women can feel just as healthy and energetic in the midlife and retirement years as they did when they were younger. It just takes a bit of extra effort. Fortunately, Doctor Hall offers a wide range of services to help you enjoy all that life has to offer.
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy for relief of menopausal and perimenopausal symptoms is one of Doctor Hall’s premier services. After interviewing you and learning more about your specific symptoms, she conducts a blood and saliva test to determine if your hormones are out of balance. She reviews your results and forwards the information to a compounding pharmacy here in Fairfax County Virginia. The pharmacist then creates a compound with the proper hormone replacement to treat your specific imbalance. Doctor Hall has successfully treated over 400 women with Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy since introducing it to her practice 10 years ago.
The goal of age-management services is to detect and treat issues associated with aging as early as possible so you can continue living an active, satisfying life. This may include Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, nutrition counseling, fitness consultations, dermatology services, and anything else that helps you look and feel your best throughout your lifespan.
Cosmetic Aesthetic Services
You can’t stop getting older, but no one said you have to look your age. If you’re bothered by changes in your physical appearance as a result of the natural aging process, talk to Melinda Hall, M.D. about what types of cosmetic and aesthetic services she offers that may be right for you. From dermatology services to vaginal aesthetics, Doctor Hall offers a full panel of cosmetic and aesthetic services to her patients.
Because estrogen is the predominant hormone in the female body, it is essential to know how your body metabolizes it. Doctor Hall provides genetic testing to determine estrogen metabolism and then uses this as a baseline to plan your treatment.
If you have a history of breast cancer in your family, you may wish to undergo genetic testing to assess your own risk. When breast cancer is detected early, you can take several preventive measures to lessen its impact on you.
Medical Weight Loss
Because weight gain is the top complaint of menopausal women, Doctor Hall offers two effective programs to help you lose weight. The first is a Metagencis program called Healthy Transformations. In this program, Doctor Hall supervises a diet plan that provides you with medical supplements and healthy foods to help you lose weight and build lean muscle mass. The maintenance phases of the Healthy Transformations diet includes follow-up by a lifestyle coach every one to two weeks to gauge your progress and make changes to your plan if necessary.
The Ideal Protein diet plan eliminates carbohydrates and sugars until your body starts burning its excess fat. These foods remain restricted until you have met your weight loss goal. You also increase your protein intake while you are refraining from carbs and sugar. The reason these foods are initially eliminated is because it has been scientifically proven that they impede weight loss and actually encourage the storage of fat.
Eating a balanced diet is important, but most people don’t realize just how unbalanced their diets really are. Doctor Hall or one of her associates meets with you one-on-one to go over your typical daily food intake and develop a plan to ensure balanced eating. This involves making selections from all of the major food groups to make sure your body gets all of the vitamins and nutrients it needs for optimal health. Doctor Hall can also provide you with a nutritional assessment by testing your urine.
It’s hard to enjoy life when you can never be more than a few feet from the nearest restroom. If you suspect Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or another gastrointestinal disorder, it’s important to have your stool examined to receive the proper diagnosis and then work with Doctor Hall to create a treatment plan. This may involve eliminating certain foods from your diet.
The O-Shot is now being offered at the Menopause Center
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is now offered at The Menopause Center to help patients with sexual dysfunction, vulva pain syndromes, and lichen sclerosis.
The O-Shot is the trade name for a procedure in which a trained physician uses the patient’s own platelets (PRP) to inject back into her vagina and /or vulva , with the goal of making the tissue healthier and therefore more sexually responsive.
People have been doing research on Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for 20 years, trying to find ways to extract growth factors from the blood stream to promote tissue healing from injury, disease or post surgical. PRP is given to elite athletes to speed up their recovery from an injury, cosmetic surgeons use PRP for a non-surgical face lift, and oral surgeons use it for dental implants to promote healing, the idea is that a person’s own platelets can produce growth factors to promote healthy tissue growth and assist with wound healing.
